Borstad Associates Ltd. has merged with
ASL Environmental Sciences Inc. to form
ASL Borstad Remote Sensing Inc.

On March 31, 2009 after nearly five years of planning, G. A. Borstad Associates Ltd. and ASL Environmental Sciences Inc. merged to form one expanded company. A new company ASL Borstad Remote Sensing Inc has been formed to deliver all of the same reliable data acquisition, consulting services, contract research and development, and training in the application of remote sensing technology previously offered by Borstad Associates Ltd. ASL Borstad will operate as a division of ASL Environmental Sciences.

This move allows our new entity to offer a much wider range of environmental services and products. We already work in more than 35 countries. Importantly, it offers expanded opportunities to employees and ensures the continued health and stability of our company as some of our principals approach retirement age over the next decade.

There is a natural fit between our two companies, both of whom have very strong balance sheets and well-developed international reputations for high quality science and ethical conduct. Borstad Associates has provided satellite and airborne remote sensing research and development, as well as mapping and monitoring services to the environment, fisheries, oceanography, mining and military sectors for 26 years. ASL has provided oceanographic, numerical modeling and ice research services for government, university and the offshore oil, hydroelectric, seaports and aquaculture industries for 31 years. ASL also manufactures a line of hydro-acoustic instrumentation aimed at precise measurement of water movement and ice cover via a subsidiary company ASL Aqflow Inc.

The Borstad group has delivered multispectral and hyperspectral image data and image analysis, as well as end-to-end mapping, monitoring and training services almost since the inception of modern remote sensing technology. We will continue to do so, using a wide variety of satellite and aircraft sensors and will expand our offerings into the sectors serviced by ASL. We routinely work with the most recent high spatial resolution and hyperspectral sensors, and with a range of different systems including visible, shortwave infrared, thermal and radar.
